I FINALLY met up a couple weeks ago with my friend / next door neighbour, Nancy whom I really haven't seen or talked to since high school! So that's been like 4 years!
We met up for lunch and I was really glad when right from the get go, it felt like nothing has changed between us even though we haven't been in touch for all this time : )
I suggested Jtown to eat at because there are so many places we could choose from there depending on what type of food we wanted to eat. We both weren't that hungry so we decided on Shiso Tree Cafe.
The spaghetti is still a bit on the hard side, and I picked Napolitan style which kind of ended up being tomato/cheesy tasting. However, for only $10 we got pasta, salad, and soup from the lunch menu. I was quite pleasantly surprised we got salad and soup because I don't think it was listed in the menu.
I like this artistic shot Nancy took!! The cup contains soup, not coffee or tea!
Close up of her Okonomiyaki pasta. The bread was also much softer this time.
Napolitan. I thought it was going to be cooler since it's a popular pasta dish in Japan, but it just tasted kind of cheesy. I enjoyed the Okonomiyaki one more from the bite that I taste tested.
I'm thinking maybe Shiso Tree Cafe's more Japanese-styled spaghetti are better than the Western ones.
edit: I went back just yesterday with my mom and she got the Shoyu Mushroom pasta which is really good. It's creamy with a garlic taste and the pasta is softer probably because there is more sauce. On weekends, the Okonomiyaki pasta comes with shrimp which is grilled/panfried deliciously :)
The weekday lunch menu is definitely more worth it though because it is cheaper and you get salad and soup.
